Join the Seniors for Climate Spring Day of Action

Last year, Climate Legacy was proud to be one of the six sponsoring groups that co-founded Seniors for Climate and their October 1st Seniors Day of Climate Action. That project united thousands of seniors in 76 communities across the country to come together and demand immediate change.

This spring, we’re excited to once again be working with Seniors for Climate as they plan another cross-country action – this time for Earth Day! On the week of April 21 – 27, seniors will be gathering across Canada to raise awareness about climate change, and to take action in their communities. So far, dozens of groups have already shared their Earth Day plans, outlining a wide range of activities from public rallies, to climate art exhibits, to viewings of the Later is too Late documentary.

Although Earth Day is just a month away, it’s not too late to plan an action in your community. Many groups are still signing up, and if you need some inspiration, Seniors for Climate has a list of the initiatives being planned on the Events Page of their website. We encourage you to look it over, and if there’s something you can replicate in your community, please do so!

Seniors for Climate is also offering support through their April 2025 Promotional Toolkit, this contains:

A list of potential actions to get you started
Key messaging you can use for your own materials
Ready to use posters, as well as a blank poster you can add your group’s info to (if you don’t have the tools to edit a poster – there’s an email to request editing support)
Official artwork you can use to make postcards, t-shirts, banners, and hats
General branding guidelines including a logo, colours, and fonts, so your homemade materials can match Seniors for Climate’s look

What Climate Legacy is Planning

For Climate Legacy’s Earth Day action we’re organizing an intergenerational dialogue in Ottawa. This interactive roundtable will bring together 20 climate activists across generations to share their experience and perspectives on climate work, and on the current political/economic landscape. Our goal is to not only have participants share knowledge, but to also build stronger local ties within Ottawa and encourage more collaboration going forward.

This first session is invite-only as we explore the format, but we hope that other roundtables like this one will follow. If you might be interested in joining a future session, or maybe organizing your own, please do let us know so we know there would be interest down the road.

We’re also grateful for those who have already signed up – we look forward to hosting you next month and developing some new connections in Ottawa!

Support Climate Legacy

We have a busy spring of new projects and partnerships on the horizon – however, to continue growing and taking even more meaningful action, we are hoping members of this network might consider making a $25 donation to Climate Legacy at the link here

Take care,

Eric Murphy
